Kings Island removes Halloween display of dead celebrities
by MadWatchStudios on Oct.01, 2009, under Cedar Fair Parks
Kings Island’s Halloween Haunt event kicked off over the weekend and they quickly received complaints over some displays that many considered offensive. The displays featured dead celebrity skeletons, including Heath Ledger (with empty pill bottles at his feet), Billy Mays, Michael Jackson (with pet monkey Bubbles), and probably most disturbing, NFL quarter back Steven McNair (with his girlfriend who killed him). A local Cincinnati news station posted their photos here.
I just don’t see how someone comes up with the idea, and gets it approved from the higher ups in the theme park to go ahead with it. I’m sure they were just trying to be edgy this year and make some extra news coverage (nothing helps get attention like controversy) but I think they definitely stepped over the line with the McNair display.

Knott’s Berry Farm will feauture Zombieland for Halloween
by MadWatchStudios on Aug.12, 2009, under Cedar Fair Parks, Movies
The LA Times is reporting that Knott’s Berry Farm will have a scare zone themed to the upcoming film Zombieland, for their Halloween Haunt 2009 event. According to the article, the horror comedy film shot a few scenes at Wild Adventures – a park in Valdosta, Georgia. I’ve been to that park, so I’m looking forward to the movie even more. Unfortunately I can’t make a trip out to Knott’s Berry Farm just for Halloween this year.
You can read the full article at the LA Times here, although the article has more information about the film than the scare zone.
Knott’s Halloween Haunt runs from September 24th to October 31st. Zombieland opens in theaters October 9th.
Universal Orlando releases promotional artwork for Halloween Horror Nights 2009
by MadWatchStudios on Jul.08, 2009, under Movies, Universal Parks
“Ripped from the Silver Screen” will be the theme of this year’s HHN. According to Universal’s press release, the Wolfman haunt will also be a special preview for the movie due in November. I’m not too excited to see Chucky in the promo artwork – I’ve never found the movies scary. While I’m not a fan of the Saw movies either, I’ll admit the Jigsaw character will fit in with HHN. What I’m most excited about is that the theme “Ripped from the Silver Screen” does support the rumor of a Bioshock themed haunt, since Universal does own the rights to the movie, and it is due out in 2010. They’re using HHN to cross-promote Wolfman, so maybe they will get an early start on promoting Bioshock as well.
