by nxojkt on Oct.01, 2009, under Miscellaneous
Yep, you read that right. Okay, it was a joke by the folks at Florida. But it’s a damn funny one.
In the University of Florida Disaster Preparedness Manual, after hurricanes and the like, situation #5 is Zombie Attack.

It’s tough to balance finding the time to post things with actually attending the convention. I’ve stolen a few minutes now to throw up some pictures from Thursday night.

One of television’s best shows has been given a greenlight for a fourth season, depsite the fact that season three is just three episodes old.

Will Sloth Love Superman?
by nxojkt on Aug.28, 2009, under Television
We all know that Sloth love Chuck (almost as much as he does Chunk), but will he love former Superman Brandon Routh on NBC’s television series?
Aintitcoolnews.com is reporting that Routh has signed on to play a recurring role on this fall’s edition of the NBC show about a nerd who becomes a spy. And if you aren’t watching… well, you should be.
Nolan’s Next Batman Entirely in IMAX
by nxojkt on Aug.25, 2009, under Movies
According to the folks over at AintitCoolNews.com, Christopher Nolan is considering shooting the entirety of his next Batman film in IMAX. There were several scenes of The Dark Knight that were filmed this way, and Nolan apparently fell in love with the technology.
Not only does it take considerably longer to set up the camera to shoot a shot in IMAX, but there had to be special lenses created for the shots in Dark Knight. So an entire movie shot this way would be enormously expensive. Coming off of the success of the last Batman film, Nolan likely has plenty of clout… so if he’s ever going to push for something like this, now is the time.
AMC + Frank Darabont + Zombies
by nxojkt on Aug.12, 2009, under Television
Why does the idea of this please me?
- AMC currently has two of television’s best shows in Mad Men and Breaking Bad
- Frank Darabont has adapted for the screen and directed The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist.
- Do you need a justification for zombies? Because, if you do, maybe you’re in the wrong place.
The folks at Aint It Cool News are reporting that AMC and Frank Darabont are close to signing a deal for Darabont to write and direct an adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel “The Walking Dead.”
I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be watching.
Trailer out for “The Blindside”
by nxojkt on Aug.09, 2009, under Movies
The trailer has hit the net for the film adaptation of Michael Lewis’ book “The Blindside”. This film is based on the true story of former Ole Miss, and current Baltimore Ravens left tackle Michael Oher. If you’re not familiar with the story, Oher was essentially a homeless African-American teenager, destined for a life on the street. A wealthy southern white family adopted him, and helped turn his life around.
On top of this being a great story, the film is striving for enough realism that college football coaches like Nick Saban, David Cutcliffe, and Phillip Fulmer are playing themselves.
Director John Hughes Is Dead
by nxojkt on Aug.06, 2009, under Movies
If you grew up in the ’80s, then you doubtless cut your film teeth watching the works of John Hughes. Whether it was Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, or Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, you likely had one of his movies that you could turn on after a stressful day at school and just unwind with it.
On top of those directorial efforts, he also wrote the screenplays for Vacation, European Vacation, and Christmas Vacation, along with all three Home Alone movies and Pretty in Pink.
Basically, this guy was the Judd Apatow of the 1980s. And he sadly died of a heart attack today. He hadn’t done much of note in the last decade, but the work he produced in the ’80s is largely responsible for a lot of the nostalgia that exists for that decade.

I started writing this as a comment on Honk Mahfah’s post, but it ran a little long for that section. If you haven’t read his review, you’re going to want to do that now….
