The Seesawing Emotions of Joss Whedon

Speaking Tuesday night at the Paley Festival during a panel devoted to his film Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, producer Joss Whedon was asked about the odds of his current Fox series Dollhouse being picked up for a second season. As SciFi Wire reported, Whedon sounded somewhat pessimistic on the subject, characterizing the show’s renewal chances as being “not very good but in limbo.”
However, while speaking on the Dollhouse panel Wednesday night, Whedon seemed to have gained some encouragement. FEARnet reports that unnamed Fox executives heard about Whedon’s comments and called him to reassure him that the show’s future had not been decided, that they love the show, that they are very pleased with the show’s ratings gains via DVR viewings, and that they were going to be looking at the show’s performance over the final few weeks of the season.
The next episode of Dollhouse airs on April 24.
